The Los Angeles Clippers are training at an elite level to prepare for the 2023-24 NBA season.

Kawhi Leonard has again emerged as a leader of the team.

The two-time NBA champion has apparently taken Bones Hyland under his wing.

So much so that Leonard has made it his personal mission to guard Hyland during practices.

Considering Leonard is an elite defender, Hyland shared his thoughts on being guarded by Leonard via ClutchPoints on Twitter.

“Kawhi be pushing me a lot man. Every time he come guard me, I know I got a challenge,” Hyland said.

“Kawhi be pushing me a lot man. Every time he come guard me, I know I got a challenge. I try to push Kawhi, he’s trying to push me as well. I feel like it’s really good cuz we push each other.”

Hyland will be under the spotlight throughout the 2023-24 season.

Many expect him to have a breakout season with the Clippers and ultimately became a solid star on the team.

Leonard has apparently gauged the 23-year-old’s talent, and as a result, has made it his personal mission to help him improve ahead of the new season.

Hyland averaged 10.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game for the Clippers last season.

He’s expected to take a leap this season and, of course, help the Clippers attain an excellent record during the regular season.

Last season, the Clippers finished as the fifth seed in the Western Conference with a 44-38 record.

They were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Phoenix Suns.

However, with Leonard and Paul George finally healthy, they may finally play in their first NBA Finals.

In addition, the organization also re-signed Russell Westbrook to a two-year deal.

With the veteran trio and multiple solid supporting players, the Clippers may very well put an end to their championship drought by June 2024.
