It’s been exactly one year since the San Francisco 49ers traded for star RB Christian McCaffrey.
The Niners had to surrender a second, third, and fourth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and will have to give up a fifth-round pick to the Carolina Panthers in the upcoming edition as well.
In hindsight, it might have been one of the biggest bargains and heists in recent NFL history.
When asked about CMC’s impact on the team, HC Kyle Shanahan didn’t want to talk too much about his talents and playmaking skills, as they’re pretty much obvious.
Instead, he focused on his relentless work ethic and how he’s trying to lead by example and learn as much as he can from the offense to be as efficient as he could ever be (via Adam Schefter).
Today is the one-year anniversary of San Francisco sending 2023 second-, third- and fourth-round picks and a 2024 fifth-round pick to Carolina in exchange for Christian McCaffey. What has McCaffrey meant to the 49ers and Kyle Shanahan?

Shanahan claims he’s got that kind of underdog mentality and is always looking to get better, which is pretty much unheard of when it comes to superstars and bonafide players like him.
Notably, the Niners have a 17-3 record with Christian McCaffrey on the team, with those losses coming in his Niners debut vs. the Kansas City Chiefs, in the NFC Championship Game vs. the Philadelphia Eagles, and last week vs. the Cleveland Browns.
On top of that, he’s scored at least one touchdown in every single game he’s suited up for the team.
Unfortunately, he’s likely set to miss Sunday’s contest vs. the Minnesota Vikings, as he continues to nurse an oblique injury, and his team shouldn’t need that much help to win anyways.
