The Golden State Warriors won’t have one of their veteran leaders on the roster next season.

After 19 years in the league, Andre Iguodala has decided to call it quits and retire from the game, per Bleacher Report.

Iguodala became an integral part of the Warriors’ dynasty.

He embraced a different role after being a borderline All-Star and go-to guy, immediately buying into their system.

That kind of maturity allowed the Warriors to have an elite sixth man anchoring their second unit, someone who could play lockdown defense and get timely buckets, all without an ego.

Andre played a pivotal part in their first championship run, playing solid defense on LeBron James en route to one of the most controversial NBA Finals MVP awards in league history.

The Warriors wouldn’t have been able to win four NBA championships in the Steve Kerr era without his play and leadership.

He barely played in their last title run and last season, but he helped pave the way and set the standard within a winning organization.

If he agreed to embrace a lesser role and play ball for the sake of the team, then why wouldn’t any other player do whatever was best for the team?

He could’ve gotten more minutes, more money, and more recognition somewhere else, but he always put the team first and foremost, and it paid off.
