With the preseason finally over, the 2023-24 NBA season is set to begin on Tuesday and the Golden State Warriors find themselves in the primetime game against the Phoenix Suns.
After getting bounced in the second round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs by the Los Angeles Lakers, the Warriors will be looking to prove that they still belong in the inner circle of contenders.
The Western Conference has only gotten tougher since last year, but Golden State shouldn’t be counted out given the players they have on their roster.
The Warriors will always be a threat so long as they have Stephen Curry, though the team will be without Draymond Green for a bit as he rehabs a sprained ankle.
Despite his age, Green remains the heartbeat of Golden State’s defense and they’re expected to regress in the department until his return.
Ahead of Opening Night, Steve Kerr did give a positive update on Green’s status via NBC Sports.

Kerr reveals that Green has managed to progress to three-on-three scrimmaging, a positive first step though he’ll still need to get through five-on-five with contact in order to be cleared to play.
Still, this is good news as it means that Green hasn’t suffered any setbacks and is on track to return in the next couple of weeks.
The Bay Area faithful are hoping that their defensive stalwart is able to return sooner rather than later as almost every regular season game is going to be meaningful.
The title window for the Warriors could be closing soon, so this year might be the last time this group has a legitimate shot at another championship.
