The San Antonio Spurs struck gold in the 2023 NBA Draft when they took Victor Wembanyama first overall.
Wembanyama is considered the most talented prospect to come through the NBA since LeBron James and he’s already been turning heads with what he’s been able to do on the court.
The France native doesn’t move like a normal big man as he’s agile on the floor and is able to cover much more ground than players are used to.
Defensively, Wembanyama should be a force from day one, while offensively he is still scratching the surface of what he can do.
Wembanyama will make his highly-anticipated debut on Wednesday against the Dallas Mavericks, and the whole world will be watching.
Ahead of their matchup, Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd gave his initial thoughts on the rookie via Landon Buford of Sports Illustrated.
“He has the skillset on the perimeter… He got great hands and can put the ball of the floor,” says Kidd. “So, he’s a problem so we have to figure out how to slow him down a little bit.”

Calling Wembanyama a problem before he’s even played a regular season minute is a testament to just how well-regarded he is around the league already.
Physically, Wembanyama can do things that people can only dream of yet and makes plays on the court that go viral on social media seemingly every game.
San Antonio has a reputation for being able to mold and develop international players, and they’ve got arguably the best one to come through their organization in their history.
