The main concern for the Golden State Warriors heading into the 2023-24 NBA season is the health of star forward Draymond Green, who has been dealing with an ankle sprain that kept him out of the entire preseason.
The consensus has been that Green will need some time to get his ankle right and more than likely won’t be ready to play in the team’s season opener on Tuesday, October 24, against the visiting Phoenix Suns.
Fortunately, Green’s injury is the only substantial one the team is dealing with as they head toward their first game of the season against the Suns.
Even though they’d ideally like to have him on the floor and ready to go against Phoenix, it might be best to wait until he’s 100%, with Golden State having players that can fill in for the time being.
However, Green looks like he’s moving pretty well for someone dealing with an ankle sprain, as can be seen in this video from Kendra Andrews of ESPN.

At this point, the Warriors are likely going with a cautionary approach with Green, as they don’t want him reinjuring that ankle right out of the gate and being out a considerable amount of time as a result.
The next few weeks will be crucial to the team building some chemistry with Chris Paul now in the mix, as they don’t want to develop one style of play with Green and without him.
Green and Paul will have the ball in their hands a lot and will be vital to what the team does offensively and defensively this season.
