Most NBA teams keep their best players informed when they try to make a run at another star.
However, the Milwaukee Bucks kept Giannis Antetokounpmo completely in the dark when they made a deal for Damian Lillard.
The Bucks didn’t let Giannis know that they intended to move on from Jrue Holiday, and he recently told Sam Amick of The Athletic that it was actually for the best (via ClutchPoints).
“No idea. But I understand why,
because Jrue Holiday is my guy.
And I don’t want (to be part of that process). I don’t do this.”

The Greek Freak stated that he understood why the Bucks didn’t get him involved, as they knew he was close friends with him and he wouldn’t want to be a part of that kind of movement.
Giannis has already stated that losing Holiday was a bittersweet feeling, and while he’s obviously quite excited about his new partnership with Lillard and it’s all just a part of the business, it’s still kind of hurtful.
Holiday had earned the love and respect of everybody in that organization, and he stated that he wanted to retire as a Buck just hours before being traded; that’s cold.
Ironically, Giannis had put his team against the ropes with his words earlier in the offseason.
He hinted at not signing a contract extension with them unless he was certain about their desire to pursue another NBA championship.
That likely led them to make this league-altering deal.
So, ironically, he was responsible for one of his closest friends being shipped away, and he’ll now need to make sure it’s actually worth it by fulfilling his desire to win another championship.
