Although this has been a pretty miserable season for the New York Giants, they managed to defeat their longtime division rivals, the Washington Commanders, on Sunday, 14-7.

It was an ugly game, and the Giants were without starting quarterback Daniel Jones for the second straight game, as he was unable to play due to a neck injury.

Veteran backup Tyrod Taylor filled in under center and did well, completing 18 of 29 passes and throwing two touchdown passes, giving him a 116.9 passer rating for the contest.

Per the NFL on CBS, Cardale Jones feels New York would perhaps be better off with Taylor at QB rather than Jones moving forward.

Taylor has started 55 of his 87 career games, and although he was a full-time starting QB for the Buffalo Bills for three years, no one has envisioned him being a starter over the last few years.

But he was able to help tight end Darren Waller collect 98 receiving yards, while rookie wide receiver Jalin Hyatt had 75 yards on just two catches.

Jones, after getting a big new contract during the offseason, has struggled this season more than ever, as he has just two touchdown passes and six interceptions in his five games.

Many are now questioning the Giants’ wisdom of giving him that big contract while making star running back Saquon Barkley play on their franchise tag, something which could lead to him leaving the team as a free agent this offseason.

With a 2-5 record, they’re in last place in the NFC East and have almost seemingly no chance of making the playoffs, something they unexpectedly did last year before upsetting the 13-4 Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card round.
