The New York Knicks are playing a dangerous game with Immanuel Quickley.

The young star didn’t sign a contract extension, and he’s on the heels of the best season of his young career.

With all the speculation about his future, some believe Quickley could be out of the team next season.

That’s why coach Tom Thibodeau wanted to make it loud and clear that he loves Quickley and wants him to be a part of the team in the future (via Ian Begley).

Tom Thibodeau reiterates that he loves Immanuel Quickley and he hopes that Knicks and Quickley can work out a deal in the 2024 offseason.

Quickley finished second in the Sixth Man of the Year voting.

He’s the Knicks’ best bucket-getter, even ahead of Jalen Brunson.

While he might not be suited to be a starting point guard, he’s the kind of instant offensive spark off the bench that could end up being a huge factor on a championship contender.

The Knicks have more than enough cap space to make a deal with Quickley.

They’re also reportedly set to eye big names in free agency, which is why it made sense for them to agree to a contract extension with Quickley, as they could’ve used him as a trade chip.

Now, the Kentucky product will be playing for his money and a new contract.

That’s great news for a Knicks team that’s looking to take another leap forward in the postseason.

Nonetheless, that could also put other teams in contention to acquire his services, and his situation will be one to keep an eye on for most of the upcoming NBA season.
