In the age of social media, professional athletes and fans are closer than ever before.
Players have platforms where they can interact with fans, an opportunity that has not previously existed.
Many athletes, especially NFL players, have started podcasts, giving fans another insight into their lives.
These podcasts can also be a place for analysts and reports to get news and sound bites that they wouldn’t otherwise have.
Micah Parsons’ recent comments are one example of that.
In a recent podcast, Parsons declared that the Philadelphia Eagles are the best team in the NFL, even though he plays for the Dallas Cowboys.
This rubbed some fans the wrong way, but LeSean McCoy had an alternate viewpoint in a segment of “Speak” on FS1.

It might seem questionable to say that another team is the best in the league, especially if happens to be a division rival.
However, as McCoy points out, although unconventional, Parsons is just speaking his mind, something he does not have a problem with.
While Parsons’ Cowboys currently hold a 4-2 record, the Eagles are 6-1 with a firm stronghold on the division lead.
They were the NFC’s representative in the Super Bowl last season, and are seemingly on track to repeat that this year.
If Parsons’ Cowboys want to keep up, they’ll need to have a nearly flawless second half of the season to try and make a run for the divisional title.
