Fewer topics dominated the NFL offseason more than the Philadelphia Eagles, and more specifically, the affectionately named “tush push.”
This is the Eagles’ name for their quarterback sneak, a play that continues to set them apart with one of the NFL’s best offenses.
However, due to their success with this play during the 2022 season, several teams petitioned the NFL to get rid of this play.
While it wasn’t banned before the 2023 campaign, some analysts believe that a change is coming.
Nick Wright recently highlighted three reasons why he believes the NFL will ban this play moving forward on his show, “What’s Wright.”

Wright’s three reasons are that “it’s not exciting, it takes all suspense out, and it’s an ugly play.”
He believes that there is no place for this formation in the game of football and that the NFL should put a stop to it.
As a fan, Wright would like to see the Eagles draw up a different run play or even a pass play.
This is something that, in Wright’s eyes, would make other fans excited to watch the Eagles, especially on fourth-down situations.
Eagles fans and players have been vehemently against the league taking action on this, and additional third-party analysts tend to agree.
At this point, the vote seems to be split in the public eye.
The NFL will not do anything about this in the middle of the season, so it will be interesting to see how their decision plays out in the 2024 offseason.
If this play is banned, the Eagles will be forced to go back to the drawing board.
