There’s a lot going on for the Charlotte Hornets right now, and not everything is positive.
With all the talk and scandals around Miles Bridges and Brandon Miller, getting a win in their season opener was a huge breath of fresh air for Steve Clifford and his team.
Notably, it also took a huge weight off the aforementioned Miller’s shoulders, as there was plenty of expectations surrounding his debut.
When asked about it, the No. 2 pick admitted that he hadn’t settled in just yet, so he was just going to keep putting in the hard work to try and get better while it happens (via Jerry Donatien and ClutchPoints).
“I definitely haven’t settled in yet… It’s probaby gonna settle in when I go to sleep… Tomorrow I’m just gonna come in here, work hard, and get better.”

Miller had a solid first game in the league, scoring 13 points to go along with three rebounds and two assists on 5-of-9 shooting and 3-of-7 from beyond the arc.
He knocked down some big shots and was on the floor for 24 minutes, and it should be just a matter of time before he plays his way into the starting lineup, even if Bridges also comes back from his suspension.
The Hornets have high expectations for the Alabama product, and he’s expected to be the centerpiece of their project alongside LaMelo Ball.
With that in mind, they’re likely to try and find a trade suitor for veteran wing Gordon Hayward, although offloading his contract — and his history of injuries– could be tricky.
For now, all he can do is put in more hard work and hope the off-court distractions don’t get in his way to greatness.
