The Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks weren’t messing around this summer after they both got bounced out of the NBA playoffs by Jimmy Butler and the eighth-seeded Miami Heat.

After the Bucks got embarrassed by the Heat, losing in five games in the first round, superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo let it be known that he was starting to get frustrated with what he saw in the Milwaukee locker room.

This led to the Bucks front office being aggressive this summer after bringing back Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez in NBA free agency, and they pulled off the blockbuster trade for Damian Lillard.

Even though the Celtics had already acquired Kristaps Porzingis earlier in the offseason, Boston wasn’t done making moves as they acted quickly by picking up defensive-minded guard Jrue Holiday to add to their roster.

With these two Eastern Conference heavyweights absolutely stacked from top to bottom, former Celtics star Paul Pierce believes it’s a two-team race for the NBA Finals, as he said on “KG Certified” via Showtime Basketball.

.@paulpierce34 thinks it’s rare that championship teams’ best players are point guards.

Which is why he thinks Dame and Giannis are the perfect pairing.

With the Philadelphia 76ers seemingly being a mess with the James Harden situation and no telling what Miami will do this season, Pierce might be right that it’s Boston and Milwaukee battling it out for a trip to the Finals.

The Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks may think they’re in the same category, but they’re a tier below until they can prove otherwise.

The Eastern Conference crown will likely go through Boston or Milwaukee, with some all-out battles expected between these teams.
