The Brooklyn Nets bid farewell to the duo of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving last season.

It put the Nets into an instant rebuilding phase with the core of Ben Simmons, Mikal Bridges, and Cam Thomas.

While many expect the Nets to struggle throughout the season, one blessing in disguise for the team could be the development of Cam Thomas.

The Nets have lost back-to-back games to start the season, but Thomas has dropped 36 and 30 points, respectively, in the defeats.

Following Thomas’ second consecutive 30-point game, Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn had nothing but praise for the young stud via Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson on Twitter.

“I’ve always had extreme confidence in him,” Vaughn said.

Last season, Thomas averaged 10.6 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game for the Nets.

He was expected to become a better player, but no one expected him to instantly blossom into a scoring machine.

If Thomas can continue playing at the same level for the rest of the season, the Nets may have a chance to make the playoffs.

Sure, they are currently 0-2 in the regular season, but there are 80 more games left.

Apart from Thomas, the Nets also have Ben Simmons and Mikal Bridges on the roster.

The duo can undoubtedly impact the game in multiple ways and will play a crucial role in how the Nets finish after it’s all said and done.

Can the Nets advance to the playoffs despite losing their two best players, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving? Only time will tell.
