After starting the 2023 NFL Season undefeated, the San Francisco 49ers have now lost three straight.
For a team that didn’t lose under Brock Purdy in the 2022 regular season, the past three weeks have been abnormal.
While there have been several contributing factors to these losses, a recent Bleacher Report tweet has pointed out Purdy’s role in these games.

In these losses, Purdy has thrown for just three touchdowns and five interceptions, including a game-sealing pick against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7.
Despite throwing for over 350 yards this week against the Cincinnati Bengals, he could not overcome the dominance of Joe Burrow, willing his team to 31 points.
While the 49ers have expressed confidence in Purdy in the past, his recent losses might lead them to look another way in the offseason.
Purdy was a seventh-round rookie in the 2022 NFL Draft as the bulk of fans are aware of.
The team does not owe him a significant amount of money, and moving on from him would not be hard, should they choose to do so.
Granted, three games are not necessarily an indication of what Purdy can do for the rest of the season, but these struggles have to make an impact on what the team thinks of him.
With one of the league’s strongest defenses and one of the best groupings of offensive skill-position players, many expect the 49ers to fight for a top spot in the NFC.
These three losses do not help their cause, and unless they go undefeated the rest of the way, dreams of a first-round bye are likely out the window.
