The San Antonio Spurs have only played three games thus far during the 2023-24 NBA regular season, but the hype continues to grow for rookie Victor Wembanyama, as he has taken the league by storm much like LeBron James did two decades ago.
Even though Wembanyama had a forgettable performance against the Los Angeles Clippers, as the team was beaten by 40 with their superstar rookie finishing with 11 points, five rebounds, two assists, and five turnovers, he still made headlines after the game.
Fellow Frenchman and Clippers forward Nicolas Batum was asked about Wembanyama after facing him for the first time as an opponent in the NBA.
Batum loves the impact that Wembanyama has on the game and that he’ll have on the league for the next decade-and-a-half, via Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.
“I mean it’s good to have a guy who comes from your country be like that phenom. The next 15-plus years is going to be insane for him. Glad I got to know him way before that.. Just happy for him. Proud as a French. As a fan, pretty happy for him.”

Even though Wembanyama will want to put this performance behind him, he’s still got a long way to go during his rookie campaign, with a lot of basketball left to be played and every basketball fan wanting to see what all the hype is about for the rest of the season.
There’s another tough challenge on the schedule for Wembanyama and the Spurs as they will continue their road trip and take on the Phoenix Suns on Halloween.
This will be a highly anticipated matchup between the rookie and superstar forward Kevin Durant, as they are bound to be matched up with one another over the course of the game, which will, without a doubt, be must-see TV for avid basketball fans.
