The NFL trade deadline produced some fireworks, though the biggest move of the day may have been courtesy of the San Francisco 49ers.
After dropping three consecutive games, the 49ers felt the need to do something and they shocked the league when they managed to agree to a deal to bring in Chase Young from the Washington Commanders.
San Francisco shipped out a third-round pick in order to land Young, who has dealt with several injuries throughout his young career.
After losing in Week 8, Washington seemed like a prime seller at the deadline and they proved those hunches correct after they shipped out both Montez Sweat and Young.
The 49ers boast one of the best defensive lines in the NFL and the Young addition only solidifies their front even more.
However, Dan Orlovsky believes that adding Young means there’s added pressure on San Francisco defensive coordinator Steve Wilks to get the most out of his group, via ESPN.
“This puts pressure on Steve Wilks to go figure this out. … They are absolutely loaded at the defensive line,” Orlovsky said.

It’s almost a no-brainer move to add someone as talented as Young, but Orlovsky argues that the 49ers defense hasn’t been up to par compared to recent years.
With Young on board, there are no more excuses for Wilks to have this defensive group underwhelm the rest of the way.
San Francisco is still one of the best teams at getting after the quarterback, but their run defense has been below average this year.
Young can help in that department, but like Orlovsky said there’s no more room for slippage the rest of the way.
