For the 2023-24 season, the Los Angeles Clippers are expected to be one of the top teams in the Western Conference.

While the Clippers initially had this reputation due to the trio of Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and Russell Westbrook, trading for James Harden has taken the franchise to the next level.

Sure, many will be focused on how well the trio of Harden, George, and Leonard play together, but they cannot forget the importance of Westbrook to the team.

In fact, NBA analyst Kenny Smith recently claimed that Westbrook is the most underrated player in the league via ClutchPoints on Twitter.

“Somebody asked me, ‘who’s the most underrated basketball player in the NBA?’ And I said, Russell Westbrook. I think he’s the most underrated basketball player right now,” Smith said.

Russell Westbrook may no longer be in the prime of his career, but he still averaged 15.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game last season.

Even during the 2023-24 season, Westbrook has put up 13.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 6.8 assists over four games for the Clippers.

Considering Westbrook is currently the third option on the Clippers, these numbers are great.

Moreover, fans should expect Westbrook’s numbers to further plummet due to the Clippers adding James Harden to the team.

Despite that, Westbrook is still a great player and leader who will ultimately help the Clippers become a dominating team in the Western Conference.

All things considered, the current roster of the Clippers should be more than enough to win the first NBA Championship in franchise history.
