Kendrick Perkins Says James Harden Should Take On A New Role

Earlier this week, the Philadelphia 76ers were finally able to offload superstar guard James Harden in a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers, putting an end to an ugly and drawn-out divorce between the former NBA MVP and the storied franchise.

With Harden getting his wish to be traded to his hometown Clippers, the question now is what head coach Tyronn Lue should do with four star players on the roster, including Russell Westbrook, Kawhi Leonard, and Paul George.

The Clippers could potentially have one of the most intimidating starting lineups in the league, with all four of these players taking the floor at the same time and Ivica Zubac playing the center position.

Even though that might make the most sense to Lue and his coaching staff, former NBA player and current ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins believes the team should consider bringing Harden off the bench in Los Angeles, via NBA on ESPN.

As usual, this is a bold and questionable take by Perkins because if the team were to consider any of these stars coming off the bench, it should be Westbrook, who seemed to do well in that role last season.

Perkins makes the case that Westbrook and George need to be on the floor at the same time because he brings the best out of the superstar forward like he did when they were playing alongside one another with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

At this point, it is unclear what Lue will do with the starting lineup, but he’s definitely got a lot of options to work with and some tinkering to do in order to see what’s the best combination of five players to start games.
