Los Angeles Lakers fans sounded off the alarms when coach Darvin Ham stated that LeBron James would likely be limited to 28-30 minutes a night this season.
James didn’t seem too happy with that decision, but he did claim that he was going to do whatever the team told him to do.
It’s been four games since that, and James has played at least 33 minutes in every single one, including a season-high 42 in Wednesday’s overtime win over the Los Angeles Clippers.
This is either a testament to LeBron’s leverage and power in the locker room or proof that they cannot win without him on the court.
With that in mind, NBA analyst Alan Hahn claimed it’s about time people stop asking Anthony Davis to carry LeBron’s torch because there’s no torch to carry.
“This whole thing with Anthony Davis taking the torch … there’s no torch. There’s no taking of torch. Anthony Davis is the No. 2 on this team. He’s going to forever stay that way.”

In his latest appearance on ESPN’s “Get Up,” Hahn stated that Davis simply isn’t cut out to be the alpha dog; he’s a No. 2 option, and that’s what he’ll always be.
He pointed out the fact that Ham and the Lakers needed LeBron on the court for that many minutes because he’s still the leader and the best player on the team, and that’s obviously a big concern.
The Lakers are banking all their stock on a soon-to-be 39-year-old because their younger star is a Robin and not a Batman.
Expecting a guy in his 21st season to do all the heavy lifting is a risky gamble, to say the least, but the Lakers might have no choice.
