There were countless reasons to take Victor Wembanyama with the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft.

Simply from a marketing potential, his arrival to any market would’ve instantly been a success.

His unique skill set and unmatched size made him a mesmerizing player, but most people expected it would take some time before we saw him at his best.

Most analysts predicted the San Antonio Spurs would keep him on a short leash, spoon-feed him early in his career, and watch him grow through his mistakes.

Then, just five games into his NBA career, he exploded for a career-high 38 points, taking over when his team was in need of a go-to guy, and dominating Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and the Phoenix Suns.

With that in mind, ESPN insider Brian Windhorst raved about Wembanyama’s talents on Get Up, stating that last night’s game proves why every single scout on Earth was dreaming of the time when he’d finally take his talents to the NBA.

“This is the stuff that dreams are made of. … I saw LeBron James have a game like this his rookie year … but it was in his 65th game, not his fifth game. Wembanyama already having performances like this in his second week.”

Windhorst added that he did see rookie LeBron James putting these kinds of numbers and also leading a huge comeback against an offensive juggernaut of a team, but he did it in his 65th game, while Wembanyama is already doing these things in his second week in the league.

The big man finished the game with 38 points, ten boards, two dimes, one steal, two blocks, and three three-pointers on 57/50/83 shooting splits, playing elite defense and taking over on the offensive end of the floor as well.

Wemby has arrived, and the league is in trouble.
