The San Antonio Spurs got off to a strong start in Thursday’s game vs. the Phoenix Suns.
They were extra motivated and looking to build on that momentum from their previous win against them, and Frank Vogel’s team never knew what hit him.
Still, led by Devin Booker, the Suns were able to slowly work their way back into the game, up to the point where they tied the score at 116 with a few minutes left to play.
That’s when Victor Wembanyama took over, putting his team on his shoulders to make sure they didn’t squander that lead and secure the win.
As pointed out by ESPN Stats & Info and Marc J. Spears, the No. 1 pick outscored the Suns, 10-5, in the final 4:15 minutes of the game.

He was a perfect 4-of-4 from the field, while the Suns were 1-of-10.
Obviously, he was 100% from the field, while the Suns were 10%.
Both were tied at 3-of-4 from the free-throw line, with Wemby going 1-of-1 from beyond the arc and the Suns missing their three attempts from three.
The Spurs were without their leading scorer, as Devin Vassell got hurt at halftime and wasn’t able to return.
And when they needed someone who could carry the load, their 19-year-old rookie proved to be worth the hype, exploding for 38 points and completely manhandling the Suns on both ends of the floor.
It’s just one game, and there will be ups and downs along the way, but one can’t help but feel excited about Wembanyama’s untapped potential.
