The San Antonio Spurs just got a glimpse of the full Victor Wembanyama experience.

The reigning No. 1 pick exploded for 38 points and put his team on his back to get a huge win over Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and the Phoenix Suns.

He did that while shooting 57.7% from the floor and 50.0% from three, all while taking a career-high 26 shots in the win.

Following the game, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich didn’t have much to say about his stellar rookie in terms of analyzing his game (via NBA TV).

He stated that he thought that as much as Drew Eubanks and Jusuf Nurkic are obviously stronger and more physical than him, he was still going to figure out a way to score because he’s just too tall.

Sometimes, analysis is simple, and this was one of these situations.

Wembanyama has a height advantage over every single player in the league, so there’s not much they can do to contest his shots.

Of course, he’s also quite skilled, and it’s not just a size thing, but at the end of the day, that’s just the reality.

More physical big men won’t allow him to get close to the basket and will look to bang him up down low, but it just doesn’t matter.

If he gets his shot up, there’s no blocking it, there’s no contesting it, there’s just praying it doesn’t go in.

Not all games will look like this, obviously, but if he stays this aggressive, then the league is in big trouble.
