The Phoenix Suns had been without their best player for most of the start of the young season.
Even despite Kevin Durant’s arrival, the Suns are Devin Booker’s team, and it’s not even close.
He proved that again by putting his team on his shoulders and trying to lead a huge comeback against the San Antonio Spurs, finishing the night with 31 points, 13 assists, nine rebounds, and five three-pointers on 52/71/100 shooting.
With that epic performance, the former No. 13 pick climbed all the way to No. 3 on the Suns’ all-time scoring list, passing team legend Kevin Johnson.

Sitting at 12,749 points, Booker now only trails Alvan Adams (13,910) and Walter Davis (15,666) in the franchise’s rankings, and it’s just a matter of time before he passes them as well.
Booker averages 24.0 points per game in his career, and he’s currently averaging 31.5 points per game this season.
That means he’s just over a season away from becoming the team’s leader, and he’s under contract for another year and eligible to sign a contract extension at some point, so that’s a lock to happen.
Booker is already the franchise’s all-time leader in three-pointers and usage percentage and is eighth in total minutes played despite not being in the top 10 in games played, which only speaks volumes of his scoring prowess and impact on this team.
It’s crazy to think that Booker slipped all the way to the 13th spot in his draft, and there’s no way he wouldn’t go first-overall in a redo, as he’s become one of the most dominant scorers in today’s game.
