Victor Wembanyama entered the NBA as the most hyped prospect in the league since LeBron James.

For some, Wembanyama even surpassed James in terms of creating hype around his rookie season.

Either way, it’s one thing to be hyped, and it’s another to actually live up to those humongous expectations.

So far, Wembanyama has undoubtedly lived up to those expectations that fans set upon him before the 2023-24 season started.

A huge example of Wembanyama’s great start to his career is the fact that he has become the first player since Shaquille O’Neal to record 85+ points, 35+ rebounds, and 10+ blocks during the first five career games, per Jordan Howenstine on Twitter.

In the first five games of his career, Wembanyama has averaged 20.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game for the Spurs.

As a result, the Spurs are currently the eighth seed in the Western Conference with a 3-2 record.

Anyway, coming back to Wembanyama, he has already achieved a feat that nobody has done other than O’Neal since 1992.

If that’s not an excellent start to an NBA career, then we don’t know what it is.

In some ways, it’s ironic as O’Neal is one of the few NBA analysts who have been extremely skeptical about Wembanyama’s ceiling in the league due to his lanky frame.

So far, Wembanyama is proving his doubters wrong.
