The Oklahoma City Thunder struggled to compete in the NBA after trading away their superstar players like Paul George and Russell Westbrook in a matter of a few years.

However, in exchange for letting their star players go, the Thunder added a huge number of draft picks to their inventory.

Now, in the 2023-24 NBA season, the Thunder are finally on the doorstep of improving to the extent that they can make the playoffs.

In fact, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr issued a warning to the NBA community about the Oklahoma City Thunder via Legion Hoops on Twitter.

“These guys are coming. Everyone can feel it.” Kerr said.

The Thunder have a sensational young core of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, and Josh Giddey.

The trio has led the Thunder to a 3-3 record over the first six games of the season.

However, provided enough games, the trio can not only lead the Thunder to a record over .500 but a spot in the playoffs as well.

After having a breakout season last year, Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging 24.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game for the Thunder.

Sure, these are not bad numbers, but the Thunder will need Shai to average even better numbers if they want to have a shot at clinching a playoff berth in the Western Conference.

Can the Thunder’s trio of Gilgeous-Alexander, Holmgren, and Giddey live up to the high expectations set on them by fans? Only time will tell.

After all, the West is full of heavyweights that have a genuine shot at winning it all this season.
