The Los Angeles Lakers were shockingly defeated by the Orlando Magic in the two teams’ recent matchup during the 2023-24 NBA season.
Despite the dynamic duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis combining for 52 points, it wasn’t enough for the Lakers to avoid their third defeat of the season.
In some ways, scoring was never an issue for the Lakers during the game.
After the game, LeBron James mentioned the two biggest reasons behind the Lakers’ 101-120 defeat against the Magic via Spectrum SportsNet on Twitter.
“We got to try to figure it out, because it’s definitely been a trend. Offensive rebounds and points off turnovers.” LeBron James speaks on tonight’s struggles against the Magic. pic.twitter.com/hN54VsF9dK

As expected, James called out the Lakers for not being quick enough to grab offensive rebounds.
In addition, James also believes that the Lakers simply commit too many turnovers, allowing their opponents to string together a scoring run.
The Lakers had 17 turnovers against the Magic, which was a huge reason why the 17-time NBA champions were completely outplayed.
Moving forward, the Lakers need to be more aggressive when it comes to grabbing rebounds and be more careful with handling the ball to reduce their turnovers during games.
As for James, he put up 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists for the Lakers in 35 minutes of playing time.
For the season, James is averaging 24.5 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game.
Sure, the numbers may look solid, but as per the extremely high standards of LeBron James, fans expect the Lakers superstar to take his play up to the next level as the season progresses.
After all, James may be saving his energy to play at his best during the second half of the season.
