The Los Angeles Lakers are off to a shaky start in the 2023-24 NBA season, as they currently boast a 3-3 record.
It’s no surprise that the Purple and Gold are currently the eighth seed in the Western Conference.
But what’s surprising is the fact that the Lakers suffered an excruciating 120-101 defeat at the hands of the Orlando Magic.
The 17-time NBA champions were utterly dominated by the Magic on the boards, as the Magic outrebounded the Lakers 51-40.
Lakers head coach Darvin Ham expressed his frustration after the loss via Lakers Daily on Twitter.
“You can’t scheme rebounding. You gotta wanna go get the damn ball,” Ham said.

A head coach can only do so much to get his team on the right track.
At the end of the day, it’s upon the players who are on the hardwood to show hustle and grab rebounds.
The Magic did so against the Lakers and registered an easy victory over the Western Conference powerhouse.
With the Lakers falling to a 3-3 record, the fanbase is already getting impatient.
It won’t be a surprise if fans soon start to urge the organization to fire head coach Darvin Ham in the middle of the season.
Keeping that in mind, one way or the other, Ham will be held accountable for the Lakers’ early-season struggles.
But all hope isn’t lost yet as the Lakers had a 2-10 start to the 2022-23 season and still ended up reaching the Western Conference Finals.
With that said, the Lakers can aim to reach one of the top seeds in the Western Conference over the remainder of the 76 games in the season.
