The Minnesota Vikings won a game in one of the least likely fashions in recent NFL history.
Rookie QB Jaren Hall couldn’t be on the field for more than one quarter, suffering a concussion early in the matchup vs. the Atlanta Falcons.
That forced Kevin O’Connell’s hand to roll with Joshua Dobbs, who had just arrived in the Twin Cities after spending training camp with the Cleveland Browns and the first half of the season as the starter for the Arizona Cardinals.
Dobbs had not received a single rep with the offense during practice this week.
He hadn’t taken a snap from center Garrett Bradbury or thrown a single pass.
Before entering the game, the offensive line tried to get him up to speed with the five primary cadences they’ve used this season.
Even so, Dobbs managed to lead the team to a 31-28 triumph despite later admitting that he didn’t even know most of the guys’ names (via SportsCenter).

Dobbs hit WR Brandon Powell with a six-yard score with under 25 seconds left to play.
He marched down the field with a 75-yard game-winning drive, even converting on fourth and 7 with a 22-yard scramble.
This has been quite an odd season for the Vikings, a team that struggled early in the year and found its stride despite not having Justin Jefferson on the field.
Kirk Cousins will miss the remainder of the year, and Dobbs will likely be the starter going forward, so he better learn his new teammates’ names soon.
