The Golden State Warriors started off the season without one of their best players, Draymond Green.

Green missed the preseason with an ankle injury, and while Chris Paul did a solid job as a fill-in starter, the Warriors obviously needed their defensive anchor back.

That’s why Golden State legend Chris Mullin believes the Warriors need a confident and aggressive Green if they want to return to their championship-winning ways (via Warriors on NBC Sports).

The legendary small forward argues that this version of Green helps open up space for Golden State’s free-flowing offense.

Green has been much more aggressive as a scorer since the start of the season, averaging 11.2 points per game, which is quite close to his career high of 11.7.

He’s also shooting from 3-point range at a much higher and more effective clip than usual, knocking down 46.2% of his attempts while grabbing 4.2 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game.

The Warriors have only lost two games this season, and they look like the same perennial contender they’ve been throughout the course of the Steve Kerr era.

Green admitted that last year’s team didn’t have good chemistry and that it was tough to go to work some days, but that’s not the case anymore.

And while it’s hard to put all the blame on Jordan Poole for how things went down last season, it’s fairly obvious that not having him around has been a breath of fresh air for Green and the Warriors.
