There was a lot of chatter about the new-look Dallas Mavericks and how they would fare this season.

They are currently six games in, and while they lost to the defending champion Denver Nuggets, they’ve done a solid job of silencing most of their critics thus far.

As reported by MavsMuse on Twitter, Jason Kidd’s team currently leads the league in several advanced metrics, such as clutch wins, three-pointers made, clutch box plus-minus, clutch steals, and clutch win percentage.

The 2023 Dallas Mavericks are…

1st in clutch Win’s
1st in clutch 3PM
1st in clutch +/-
1st in clutch steals
1st in clutch win%

Needless to say, this team has excelled when the game has been on the line.

However, Mavericks fans would likely prefer to not see their team in as many tight situations as they have been in thus far.

Instead, they want to see Dallas take care of business earlier in the game to avoid so many tight finishes.

It’s worth mentioning that it’s unusual to see teams thriving so much with their backs against the wall, and it’s a good thing that they’re confident enough to get the job done when it matters the most.

A big part of their success is the fact that Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving have thrived together, proving they can coexist and that last season’s struggles were an outlier.

The Mavs have one of the most explosive offenses in the game, and they seem to be quite comfortable pushing up the pace of the game and getting into shootouts.

While that might not be the wisest way to handle things long-term, Dallas has two of the best scorers in basketball, and that will always give them a chance to win tight contests.
