The Boston Celtics were the last undefeated team in the league, but all good things eventually come to an end.
They had been in some close games to start the season, and the Minnesota Timberwolves eventually got the best of them in overtime.
The Timberwolves managed to even things up with a little under two minutes left to play, and with both teams exhausted and playing solid defense, they wound up having to go to overtime to settle the score.
However, despite the Timberwolves’ great efforts, Celtics star Kristaps Porzingis believes the referees had a little too much to do with the outcome of the game.
According to Jared Weiss of The Athletic, Porzingis complained about not getting some of the calls he usually gets, adding that the refs also called him multiple times for fouls despite him not doing anything.
Porziņģis on fouls: “To be honest, I’ve been in the league for a while and a couple of them were — I don’t know, maybe I’m just going crazy — but I feel like I didn’t do anything at all. And on the other hand, I felt like some of the calls that I usually get, I did not get.”

Porzingis had five fouls on the night, with Jaylen Brown also getting five and Al Horford picking up 4.
Still, it’s not like the referees only called fouls against the visitors, as Karl-Anthony Towns fouled out after just 27 minutes, Rudy Gobert and Kyle Anderson had four fouls each, and Anthony Edwards had five as well.
This was a physical and entertaining game, and the referees didn’t have a lot to do with the final score.
If anything, the Celtics went to the line nine more times than the home team (34 to the Timberwolves’ 25).
Superstars get superstar calls and treatment, and even if Porzingis is a very good player, he just doesn’t fit that criteria.
