The Miami Heat were in desperate need of some offensive punch to get past their slow start to the season.
They’ve done precisely that after winning three in a row, with their last win being propelled by a historical performance by Bam Adebayo.
The perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate put the league on notice by putting up 22 points, 20 rebounds, 10 assists, two blocks, and two steals against the Los Angeles Lakers.
When asked about his triple-double, the big man claimed that it just happened organically, as he was trusting his shot and his teammates were making plays, so it was easy (via Zach Weinberger and ClutchPoints).

This was the first 20-rebound triple-double in Miami Heat history, and while the Lakers almost pulled off a comeback, he and Jimmy Butler were able to weather the storm and get a much-needed home win.
It wasn’t all good, though, as Adebayo got called for a travel with just 8.9 seconds left in the game, giving the Lakers a chance to win the game.
Fortunately for Erik Spoelstra’s troops, LeBron James refused to take the final shot and kicked it to a wide-open Cam Reddish instead, who missed the potential game-winning three-pointer.
For the Lakers, Anthony Davis missed the final 14 minutes of the game after leaving twice to check his hip, and his status for Wednesday’s clash is up in the air.
As for the Heat, they’re now 3-4, and while it was far from perfect, all that matters is putting up more numbers in the W column.
