The San Antonio Spurs have a unique player in Victor Wembanyama.

Scouts and fans are so high on him because they have never seen someone quite like him.

His combination of size and skills is unprecedented, and while we’ve seen glimpses of similar players, he’s in a league of his own.

However, New York Knicks big man Mitchell Robinson already knows how he’s going to take care of business vs. the 7-foot-4 rookie.

Talking to Kristian Winfield (via NBACentral), the defensive-oriented big man stated that he’s going to guard Wembanyama like he guards Kristaps Porzingis or Bol Bol, predicting he could be like a mix of both.

Mitchell Robinson says he’s ready to defend Victor Wembanyama

“I’m going to play him just like he’s one of those like Kristaps Porzingis, kind of [players]. Who else plays like that? Bol Bol? Just got a mix them two together. I kind of got a feel for how it should go.”

It’s fair to say that Bol and Porzingis do similar things in the sense that they’re both big men who can spread the floor with their shooting, but neither of them is as good of a passer as Wembanyama.

The narrative about Bol being similar to Wembanyama is also outdated because Bol has barely cracked any of his team’s playing rotations.

Wembanyama, on the other hand, is already a starter who boasts all-world potential every single time he sets foot on the court.

Also, even if Robinson manages to find success against him and prevents him from scoring, Wembanyama’s playmaking and passing abilities make an offensive impact nonetheless.

The NBA has yet to find Wembanyama’s kryptonite.

And while Robinson and others may think they have a bit of a blueprint for defending Wembanyama, he will continue to get better and develop more counters with every game he plays.
