Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George admitted he had some doubts about Victor Wembanyama’s transition to the NBA.

While he praised him for his defensive prowess, George thought Wembanyama would have a tougher time adjusting to the NBA early in his career.

Those doubts faded away as soon as George got to play against him.

In the latest edition of his podcast, George explained how Wembanayma left Russell Westbrook in awe after tipping the basketball away from him while Westbrook was driving to the hoop.

George also admitted that he was quite impressed by his wingspan and long arms and how he was able to disrupt everything around him.

Wembanyama is 7-foor-4 with an 8-foot wingspan, and he has some solid defensive instincts as well.

His defensive positioning and activity make him a nightmare for opposing teams.

He only needs a couple of steps to get across the lane, and he’s held his own while guarding opponents on the perimeter as well.

He’s obviously very early in his career, and plenty of things could happen, both good and bad.

But between Gregg Popovich’s tutelage and Wembanyama’s own work ethic, physical gifts, and defensive prowess, it shouldn’t take long before he establishes himself as one of the best defensive players in the league.

In the meantime, Wembanyama will do his best to continue proving his doubters wrong one by one, even if those doubters happen to be some of his colleagues and rivals.
