The New Orleans Pelicans have an up-and-coming team.
But it’s time they stop being an up-and-comer and turn into a serious contender.
Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson have both shown superstar and franchise player potential, but injuries have prevented them from dominating together on the floor for long.
That’s great news for the rest of the league, at least according to former Pelicans assistant coach and WNBA legend Teresa Weatherspoon, who recently went as far as to say that they’re the best duo in the league (Via FanDuel TV and NBACentral).

Needless to say, that assessment sounds like a bit of a stretch.
We have to think of the likes of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, and others.
While Williamson and Ingram do have the potential to be the best and most dominant duo in the league, they shouldn’t get that distinction until they actually earn it.
Ingram doesn’t get as much criticism as Williamson for being injury-prone, but he has struggled with injuries in the past.
The same obviously goes for Williamson, who has missed more than half of his potential games to start his young career.
With CJ McCollum out with a lung injury, the table is set for these two stars to prove their former coach was right.
