The San Francisco 49ers could still have some questions at the quarterback position.
It was all going well with Brock Purdy and it seemed like they were ready to roll with him for the long term.
But after dropping three games in a row, there are once again plenty of doubts about his ability to lead the team going forward.
With that in mind, NFL analyst David Jacoby said on The Carton Show that if you were to swap Purdy with Trevor Lawrence, the Jacksonville Jaguars would get a lot worse and the Niners would get a lot better.
“The 49ers are much BETTER with Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars are much WORSE with Brock.”

Well, that should be an obvious statement, granted that Lawrence is a former No. 1 pick and considered one of the best prospects since Peyton Manning, and Purdy was Mr. Irrelevant and is in his second year, so that’s not much of a hot take.
However, Craig Carton believes that people are overreacting to this slump, stating that Purdy was clearly concussed in that loss to the Minnesota Vikings before throwing those picks, and blaming the entire team for the loss to the Cleveland Browns.
In fact, Purdy did lead the offense down the field and they could’ve beaten the Browns, but Jake Moody missed a potential game-winning field goal.
At the end of the day, it’s hard to judge a quarterback after just one season, and Purdy has had some ups and downs.
Then again, if his struggles continue, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Sam Darnold taking the reins at some point this season.
