The Dallas Mavericks are hoping to redeem themselves after missing the playoffs last season, and they’re off to a strong start to the 2023-24 NBA season.

The Mavericks are 7-2 through nine games and are clicking offensively thanks to the efforts of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

Both Doncic and Irving have dealt with some minor injuries already, but the star guards look healthy and ready to lead Dallas to the postseason.

On a Friday night full of group-stage games for the In-Season Tournament, the Mavericks made a statement when they blew out the Los Angeles Clippers.

Dallas and Los Angeles have always had competitive games between them, but this time around was a complete mismatch the former had no issue carving up the latter’s defense.

Doncic and Irving were able to score almost at will and they somehow outscored the Clippers’ Big 4 via Statmuse.

Kawhi Leonard actually had a good performance as he dropped 26 points on 8-of-15 shooting, but Paul George, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook combined for just 36 points between the three of them.

Doncic and Irving took turns taking advantage of a leaky Clippers defense, while the stars outside of Leonard had trouble finding their footing.

While Los Angeles has got several things they need to figure out, Dallas has to be feeling good about where they are so far.

The Doncic-Irving pairing appears to finally be working out on the floor, though the two will need to prove they can win at higher levels against better teams to prove the experiment was worth the gamble.
