The Golden State Warriors have been off to a solid start to the 2023-24 NBA season as they’re 6-4 through 10 games and currently sitting in fifth in the Western Conference.

The Warriors have looked like their usual selves on both sides of the floor, moving the ball well offensively and swarming teams defensively though not to the same effect as previous years.

However, Golden State ran into trouble in their most recent game against the Cleveland Cavaliers as they lost 118-110.

While the Warriors have an older roster filled with veterans, the Cavaliers are a young and springy team that can cause problems both from beyond the arc and inside the painted area.

Golden State relies a lot on smart positioning and communication on the defensive end, but they had few answers for their more athletic counterparts.

Unfortunately, the loss to Cleveland could be a sign of things to come given their upcoming schedule via Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic.

Bad news for the Warriors — they have five more games against young, long, athletic defenses. They’ve got to solve this pretty soon.

When watching the Warriors, it’s clear they’re about a half-step slower than other teams who can run out and get by the defender at the point of attack.

There aren’t many fixes that head coach Steve Kerr can make given his personnel, though knowing the team they’ll be able to figure out some sort of solution.
