The dust has officially settled on the blockbuster trade that sent superstar guard James Harden from the Philadelphia 76ers to the Los Angeles Clippers, with a big enough sample size to see what direction both teams are headed in during the 2023-24 NBA season.

It seems as though Harden may end up regretting what he wished for because his Clippers stint has been pretty rough thus far, especially when compared to what Tyrese Maxey has been able to do for the 76ers since things opened up.

Maxey has gone from a talented role player in Philadelphia to a potential superstar in the making, as he has flourished in the post-Harden era and appears to be the perfect kind of player to compete alongside reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid.

The stats between Harden and Maxey tell the tale, as it is abundantly clear right now that the 76ers are glad they have moved on from last season’s assist leader, via StatMuse.

Obviously, it is still early in the process, and a lot can change in the months ahead, but so far, the blockbuster trade is heavily leaning in favor of the 76ers, as Philadelphia (8-1, won eight straight) keeps winning, with Maxey recently dropping 50 in a game, and the Clippers continue to struggle (3-6, lost five straight).

It’ll be interesting to see where these two teams are in the standings around Christmas time and heading toward the NBA trade deadline in February because right now, it’s all blue skies in Philadelphia while a dark cloud looms over Los Angeles.
