The Boston Celtics have the Philadelphia 76ers’ number.

No other team in the league knows how to keep Joel Embiid in check as much as them, and Al Horford is the ultimate kryptonite for the reigning MVP.

That was evident again on Wednesday night’s loss, as Embiid was -25 in a 10-point loss to Boston.

Notably, it was the sixth time in his career that he’s -25 or worse, and all those times have come against the Celtics.

No wonder why Embiid had no choice but to tip his hat to them and call them the best team in the NBA (via Celtics on NBC Sports Boston).

This isn’t the first time that Embiid has had words of praise for the Celtics.

A couple of years ago, he admitted that they didn’t have a rivalry with them because a rivalry would imply both teams winning games and the Celtics always beat them.

The Sixers had an opportunity to reclaim bragging rights from them in the playoffs, but Embiid and James Harden crumbled under pressure and blew back-to-back chances of closing them out.

It’s a long season, and the Sixers have also looked great, even beating Boston in their first matchup of the campaign, so it’s early to sound off the alarms.

But Nick Nurse will have to figure out how to counter everything the Celtics have done to keep his best player in check throughout the course of the years, as they’re likely to square off again in the playoffs this season.
