The Golden State Warriors followed their strong start to the season with a big slump, and a lot of that has to do with one of their perennial stars.

Klay Thompson is recently going through the worst slump of his career, and he’s not doing himself any favors with free agency just around the corner.

That’s why ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith urged him to take a deep look in the mirror or get someone to get him on notice, as he’s actually hurting his team right now.

“Somebody has to put Klay Thompson on notice. … If Klay Thompson isn’t shooting the ball at an elite level, what use is there for him any longer?”

In the latest edition of First Take, Smith remembered that Thompson stated that this would be the most crucial season of his career as it leads to free agency and then called him out for the way he’s playing right now.

While he called him a future Hall of Famer and one of the five greatest shooters of all time, Smith also acknowledged that the Warriors simply have no use for him anymore if he cannot shoot the ball at an elite clip.

Truth be told, it’s hard to think that one of the most efficient shooters in NBA history has lost his touch all of a sudden, and it should be just a matter of time before we see some positive things.

As for getting the kind of contract he reportedly wants to get in the offseason, his play early in the campaign has made it a bit of an uphill battle for him, and that could mean the end of his days in the Bay area.
