The Los Angeles Lakers need Anthony Davis if they want to stand a chance to win the NBA championship this season.

And that’s not like they need him one day and not the other or just in the playoffs; they need him every single day.

That’s why ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith doubled down on his constant criticism of him.

Davis took just nine shots and finished the loss to the Sacramento Kings with nine points and nine rebounds, which led Smith to call him out on First Take for not being in shape (via ClutchPoints).

“We need to start paying more attention to Anthony Davis’ conditioning. We need to start calling him out for that… Why in god’s name does Anthony Davis seem out of it? You know why? Because his a*s ain’t in shape.”

The controversial pundit stated that it’s about time people start calling Anthony Davis out and taking a closer look at his conditioning.

He compared him to LeBron James, who obviously takes elite care of his body and looks like a guy who, despite his age, is giving absolutely everything he has on the court night in and night out, which isn’t the case with Davis.

Smith ripped him for being a decade younger than LeBron and still having games like this, adding that a player of his skills should never have a dud like that, and the only reason why that constantly happens is because of his poor physical shape.

Davis’ intensity — or lack thereof — has been a talking point for years now, and so has been his inconsistency.

He’s entering his 11th year in the league, and it doesn’t seem like that’s going to change any time soon.

If anything, it may only get worse.
