There are a lot of outstanding rookies in the NBA right now so it’s hard to choose the best of the best.
The race for Rookie of the Year is going to be really tight this season.
However, one of the greatest rookies in the league right now is Ausar Thompson of the Detroit Pistons.
Although his team might still be struggling, Thompson is not and he’s doing historic things that only one NBA legend has.
According to StatMuse, Thompson and Michael Jordan are the only non-big NBA stars to score over 20 blocks and 15 steals in their first 12 career games.

Players are always happy when they are in the same company as Jordan and Thompson is surely very excited and satisfied with how his first season is going.
He is averaging 12 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists during his first 12 games and has been shooting 43.2% from the floor.
He has also averaged 1.3 steals and 1.9 blocks per game.
Thompson has only played a dozen games so far but in many ways, he looks a lot like someone who has been in the NBA for years now.
His adjustment to the league has gone very smoothly.
Thompson has recorded at least seven rebounds in every single game of his young career and is playing with smarts, confidence, and unquestionable skill.
He is also very helpful to his teammates and always looking to pass them the ball and create successful assists.
Many people are talking about Victor Wembanyama or Chet Holmgren for Rookie of the Year but Thompson is repeatedly reminding people that he should be in the conversation.
Fans of the Pistons love what they see from the young player and they are ridiculously excited to see how far he can go by the end of this season and beyond.
