If his tenure with the Chicago Bulls has taught the NBA something, it is that Zach LaVine is a good player.
That might sound obvious, but we’re talking about him being good, not great.
He’s a good scorer, not a great scorer.
He’s a good passer, not a great passer.
He’s a good player, not a star or a franchise-caliber player.
That’s why, even though some reports might state that multiple teams are interested in him, NBA insider Marc Stein wants to draw the line at some point.
In his latest appearance on the #THISLEAGUE podcast, the insider stated that everybody talks about the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers as potential destinations for LaVine, yet the teams haven’t shown any sort of interest in acquiring his services (via Dru).
“The Sixers, the Lakers, the Heat have all been thrown out as potential trade partners [for Chicago & Zach LaVine]. The Lakers & the Heat get thrown into every trade scenario. Do we have confirmed interest from either of those teams at this point? I would say No” – @TheSteinLine https://t.co/nfgEb3Gl5H pic.twitter.com/TRSxFgFSil

He did mention the Philadelphia 76ers as a potential destination, and that’s a team that makes sense.
LaVine won’t be able to single-handedly lead a team to success; he failed to do that in Chicago.
But having him behind Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid could give the Sixers one of the best Big 3s in the league for years to come.
He’s making superstar-caliber money, and that makes it difficult to trade him under the new CBA, but that doesn’t mean the Bulls can’t get a decent return for their star.
Most of the rumors might be smokescreens and leverage to try and get his trade value up, but it would still be shocking if LaVine doesn’t get traded once and for all at some point this season.
