The Cincinnati Bengals were playing their best football of the season, but the past five days have been brutal for their aspirations.

C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans pulled off a huge upset on the road, putting them against the ropes and desperate for a win on Thursday Night Football vs. a divisional foe.

Then, Joe Burrow suffered a wrist injury and wasn’t able to return to the field, which obviously opened up the door for the Baltimore Ravens to get a somewhat easy win.

Following the loss, Bengals WR Tyler Boyd talked about how the team has to have a “next man up” mentality if they want to find success, as they just can’t cry over spilled milk (via Mike Petraglia).

He did admit that losing Burrow at this point, especially after all he had been through earlier in the year, was a huge emotional blow, but the team rallied together and just tried to do its job to the best of their capacities.

Boyd knows that having Burrow out there, even if he’s not close to 100%, gives the team a better chance to win week in and week out.

The former No. 1 pick was in clear discomfort and was unable to grip the football, so there was no point in keeping him out there.

The extent of the injury is still unclear, but they’ll have a long week to rest and restore before hitting the field again.

The Bengals are now 5-5 and dead last in their division, and while the playoffs are still a possibility, they’ll need to be almost perfect the rest of the way.
