The Chicago Bulls could be looking at a fire sale at some point in the season.
It’s become more than evident that their current roster, as talented as it is, just isn’t a good fit together, and they simply cannot continue waiting for Lonzo Ball to make his return — if ever.
With that in mind, the likes of Coby White, Patrick Williams, and, to a bigger extent, Nikola Vucevic, DeMar DeRozan, and Zach LaVine will draw some league-wide interest.
However, perhaps the biggest difference-maker that could be up for grabs from their team would be Alex Caruso, a championship-caliber role player.
With that in mind, NBA insider Dan Devine stated that Caruso is actually tailor-made to play for Erik Spoelstra, as he’s an elite defender who’s always going at 100 mph on both ends of the floor and someone who pretty much embodies the Heat’s grit-and-grind culture (via Dru on Twitter).
“I feel like Alex Caruso was built in a lab to play for Erik Spoelstra. Just defend everybody, go 1000mph every minute you’re on the court—Feels like a very neat fit for Heat Culture. I’m not positive that LaVine of today is demonstrably better than Herro of today” @YourManDevine https://t.co/toBwHqv6kN pic.twitter.com/iOPUdiBMCp

Devine also added that he’s not quite sure whether the LaVine of today is much better than the Tyler Herro of today, and that’s a valid point.
The Bulls will likely love to get at least one first-round pick in return for their stellar defender, but Pat Riley and the Heat have historically lowballed every team they’ve engaged in deals with.
That’s the only thing that could stand between the undrafted NBA champion and South Beach, but there’s no doubt that he could take that team to a whole new level if — when — the Bulls finally come to terms with the fact that they need to give up on this team.
