Nets Veteran Breaks Down Major Offensive Change For Him This Season

Following the departures of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving last season, the Brooklyn Nets have nothing to prove right now.

There are hardly any fans that consider the Nets as a championship contender or a team that makes a deep playoff run in the 2023-24 NBA season.

But thanks to the reduced pressure, many players on the Nets roster are having breakout seasons.

Former Los Angeles Lakers guard Lonnie Walker IV is among the players who have had a breakout year so far.

Walker explained what exactly changed for him on the offensive end of the floor for him this season, via ClutchPoints on Twitter.

“(This is) the first year I can showcase my abilities offensively as a three-level scorer. He’s allowing me to play through that,” Walker said.

Walker is just 24 years old, but he’s already playing the sixth season of his NBA career.

Over the course of his career, many have seen Walker as a legitimate offensive threat.

However, it wasn’t before the 2023-24 NBA season that Walker has been allowed to score from anywhere on the court.

The Nets have given Walker that freedom, and he’s greatly improved his game.

As of now, Walker is averaging 15.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game for the Nets.

On top of that, Walker is shooting an impressive 50.8% from the field and 43.9% from the three-point line.

Walker is averaging career-high numbers across the box score, and it’s certainly good news for the Nets fanbase.

The organization will hope to at least advance the playoffs in their first season without the duo of Durant and Irving in quite some time.

His improved numbers will undoubtedly play a crucial role in that goal.
