On Saturday night, the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Dallas Mavericks, 132-125, scoring another important victory and bringing their total for the season to 9-4.
During the game, Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 40 points, 15 rebounds, and 7 assists, while Damian Lillard put up 27 points and 12 assists.
Following the game, Antetokounmpo spoke about the on-court dynamic that he shares with Lillard.
According to HoopsHype, Antetokounmpo said:
“There’s some times that he wants to operate the offense and you have to give him the ball… and there’s times that I’m running ahead of him and I need the ball (…) As we move on forward game by game, we’re going to learn how to play with one another.”

When Lillard came to the Bucks at the end of the offseason, fans of the team felt that he would immediately add a ton to the team and put them on track to win another Finals.
But Antetokounmpo is highlighting a very important point: he and Lillard will need to share the responsibilities of the team and they need to learn how to work as a unit.
Both are dominant scorers and both can lead the team on their own.
But now Antetokounmpo and Lillard are splitting leadership duties in hopes of taking the team to new heights.
Antetokounmpo said that he and Lillard will need to learn how to play with one another, which is an admission that more growth might be coming in the season ahead.
So far, both players are doing incredibly well.
Antetokounmpo is averaging 29.3 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 4.3 assists while Lillard is recording 24.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 6.2 assists.
Even with those stellar numbers, both of these athletes could improve even more.
The Bucks have now won four games in a row, which suggests that maybe these two are hitting their stride together and the initial adjustment period has come to an end.
