The Oklahoma City Thunder took down the Golden State Warriors in a tough, long battle on Saturday night.

But just because the players for each team were fiercely competing doesn’t mean they aren’t still friends off the court.

That was made abundantly clear when Shai Gilgeous-Alexander shared a touching moment with Chris Paul’s family after the game.

According to a video shared by ClutchPoints, the Thunder star got hugs and small talk with Paul’s family following his overtime victory.

Gilgeous-Alexander and Paul were teammates together on the Thunder for one season back in 2019-20.

That was at the start of Gilgeous-Alexander’s career and he learned a lot from Paul, his skills, and his special brand of leadership.

Like many young players in the league, Paul imparted a lot of wisdom about the game and helped Gilgeous-Alexander be an even bigger talent.

On Saturday night, his talents were on full display.

Gilgeous-Alexander had another spectacular game and scored 40 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists.

He led his team, once again, and helped them achieve a big win, once again.

Paul started with his Warriors and recorded 12 points and 11 assists during the 130-123 defeat.

It’s been a very tough season for the Warriors so far and a very good one for the Thunder.

Years ago, the Warriors were the young, fast, enthusiastic team that couldn’t be slowed by Western Conference rivals.

Now it feels like that the Thunder fit that bill while the Warriors look aged and out of steam.

The Thunder are currently the fourth-best team in the Western Conference, which is higher than they have ranked in years.

Gilgeous-Alexander has taken all he learned from Paul and become an MVP candidate.

And, of course, he still has a lot of love for his former teammate.
